SAUERBRATEN

INGREDIENTS:

DIRECTIONS Heat to boiling: vinegar, water, cloves, salt, bay leaf and peppercorns. Then cool. Add 1 raw carrot and onion with roast. Cover with marinade and cover. Refrigerate a few days, turning occasionally. COOK: Brown meat on all sides in a little oil. Add water, carrot and onion. Cover. Tip cover to let steam escape. Cook 1 hr. Then add 1/2 marinade. Continue cooking until done. Make gravy from drippings. Add about 1/2 cp sour cream to gravy.
